Danish Wakeel’s ‘Draped Modern Kouroi’
Danish Wakeel‘s ‘Draped Modern Kouroi’, as the name suggests is a collection exclusively for men. It is his first wearable collection scheduled to be showcased during London Fashion Week in February 2012. Danish says that he has been intrigued by the concept of drapes, which in the contemporary era were associated with womenswear, however, traditionally worn by the men in form of togas, frock coats, kilts, dhotis, sarongs and caftans.

In his ‘Draped Modern Kouroi’, Danish has juxtaposed formal wear with occasion wear and that is the dominant theme. He says that he “created new solutions through the hybrid of clothing genres”. The collection fuses street style with traditional British tailoring and influence of music is deeply rooted in it.

The fashion collection is designed for a man who is fashion conscious and enjoys a new take on classic designs. “This capsule collection is created in London and is an extension and reflection of my own image”, Danish says. The pieces allows the wearer to be truly individual and participate in his radical vision. It is aimed at a man who is confident enough to look different and ahead of fashion.

Danish says that “These fashion ‘divas’ could be seen at West End clubs, high fashion parties or Selfridges in London. Male fashion models, Young musicians, artists and singers with a little rebellious attitude yet an urge to be noticed wherever they go would be interested in purchasing my exclusive pieces of ‘men’s haute couture’”. This collection marks the establishment of his label ‘Danish Wakeel’.

‘Draped Modern Kouroi’ is a collection of silhouette-hugging styles of exclusive custom fitting clothing where he has used high quality expensive fabrics. The extreme attention to detail in his creations is taken as the top most priority using time consuming hand executed techniques.
Superstar Magazine is looking forward to the launch of Danish Wakeel’s ‘Draped Modern Kouroi’.
