Jean Paul Gaultier Pays Homage to Amy Winehouse At Paris Couture Week
Jean Paul Gaultier paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse with a dramatic Spring/Summer 12 Couture show in Paris, last night. The designer used the troubled singer – who died in July last year, as the muse for his latest collection for Paris Haute Couture Week. A whole host Amy-a-likes strutted down the runway to a rendition of Rehab, sporting low-cut shirts and sequinned pencil skirts with baseball jackets, and puffball dresses. In place of the singer’s trademark headscarves and corsages, models wore veils and puffed on cigarettes. And in Amy’s signature style, each look was completed with cat-winged black eyeliner, a beauty spot, and enormous beehives that in a variety of colours, from bright gum pink…
Chanel Shines At Paris Haute Couture Week
Chanel raised the bar on jetset elegance, displaying a stunning Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Paris Haute Couture Week. Karl Lagerfield and his House Of Chanel, built an actual jet, complete with pre-show beverage carts, inside Paris‘ Grand Palais, which took 5 days to create! The collection itself showed off a variety blue coloured tones, in keeping with the aircraft theme. The main focus was on cocktail and full-blown evening dresses. Whether they were short-sleeved, slim tweed dresses, just above the knee, block-coloured and with rouleau necklines, they were all but beautiful paired with mid court or strappy heels! Dior presented an X-ray vision of the fashion house’s history, with a 1950s-themed collection in luminous layers of sheer silk crepe silhouettes with nipped waists — in shades of beige, aubergine, red, black and white. The…
