Bunmi Koko AW11 Fashion Show
Fashion designer Bunmi Koko showcased a very feminine and colourful collection at Freemason’s Hall in Covent Garden. Koko’s AW11 collection ‘Kaleidoscopia’ is inspired by the scientific and philosophic discoveries of light, from stars to optical phenomena such as rainbows, supernovas, mirages and comets. Koko’s dresses are the printed reflection of the images we see through a kaleidoscope and he uses hints of patent leather and 3D prints to create this illusion. The use of fabrics such as perforated metallic leather, lambskin, Swarovski crystals and sequins give his collection a very futuristic, edgy and sophisticated twist. The colour palette is made…
Ziad Ghanem AW11 Fashion Show
Fashion designer Ziad Ghanem presented a spectacular collection full of creativity, eccentricism and theatricality at the Freemason’s Hall in Covent Garden. Ghanem’s collection is entitled ‘Never End, Never End, Never End’ and takes inspiration from the horror video game “Silent Hill”, the work of painter John-Henry Fuseli and the movie “Black Swan”. The catwalk show opened with a model in a black evening gown which turned into a maxi dress as she gained height. The first part of his collection was very dark and gothic and all the models had an extreme black lipstick that reminiscence ‘the joker’ from Batman….
Prophetik by Jeff Garner AW11 Fashion Show
London’s top independent venue, Vauxhall Fashion Scout, showcased the historic A/W collection of fashion designer Jeff Garner. The catwalk took place at the Freemason’s Hall in Covent Garden, London. Garner’s collection ‘Artist Wonderment’ is inspired by the court of Louis XV, when art became frivolous, snob and pretentious. Garner frees his designs from this egotism creating a very artistic and inspiring collection. Danish Wakeel Couture for London Fashion Week 2011
London Fashion Week has once again surpassed it’s high expectations and has been a delight to cover this season. Last year saw the launch of the brand DW- Danish Wakeel. Superstar covered the catwalk show which showcased designs that challenged the traditional dress code using silhouette shapes. This February saw the young talent- Danish Wakeel showcase his first high-fashion couture underwear collection to close London Fashion Week at Runway London. Danish’s couture designs consisted of denim shorts, gold hot-pants, royal blue jewelled tops, sea-shelled embroidered underwear and sand-coloured shorts.
