1950′s Look Will Benefit You In More Ways Than One!
My favourite look this month is the 1950′s, it’s a classic and an excellent choice for an elegant dinner party, night out sipping champagne or just washing up! This make-up trend was sported by glamorous actresses such as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren. Do it like the old days- think arched eye brows, fresh faced skin, to die for eyes and luscious lips! The 1950’s look is quite natural and it enhances your natural beauty rather than creating a Freddy Kruger look-It’s a little 1980’s! So let’s get that monstrous mask off and turn you into a sexy siren just like our actresses…
The base: Foundation should be kept light and fresh faced not heavy and caked. Benefit has some great ranges in liquid and pan stick. TIP! Apply with a brush, it blends evenly and unlike sponges it does not soak up foundation.
The eye brows: Should be a high arch and rather dark. Apply a dark brown coloured pencil, using small strokes on your brow and blend with a cotton wool bud to avoid it looking too harsh. I use and love Benefits Brow Zings. TIP! Hold a bud up to your eye, where your pupil is, that’s where the top of your arch should be. When shaping always work with the natural shape of your brow.
The eyes: Windows of the soul! False eyelashes are key but must not be too long as they can close up the eye. Liquid eye liner should be applied on the top of the lid, starting from the inside of the eye to the outer corner; a flick is a must for this look and as well as looking sexy, it opens up small eyes. Benefits BAD gal mascara will finish off your soulful eyes. TIP! Apply mascara in a zigzag motion as it stops the lashes from sticking together.
The lips: Mwah darling! Red is the way to go and Benefits Silky Finish in Frenched is a kissable colour. TIP! Apply foundation to the lips as it helps the lip stick to stay on, always match your lip liner with the colour of your lip stick and use a brush to apply as it avoids smudges.
Do you have any tips you would like to share with us?
