Catch up with Twenty Twenty
We featured them earlier this year and these three lads have since gone on to achieve even more! Not heard of Twenty Twenty? Well you’re bound to soon. It’s been quite a breakthrough year for this pop boyband.

Summer saw Twenty Twenty gigging everywhere performing at the renowned V Festival, headlining their very own gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire to a packed crowd of screaming hard core Twenty Twenty fans and September even saw them support rock chick Avril Lavigne at the Hammersmith Apollo! I’m pretty excited to see what 2012 brings for this trio, the band are undeniably really close so I have no doubt they will remain tight!
They’ve each got a brill sense of humour and their giggling is infectious! During our catch up chat Jack revealed he intended to go as Jack The Ripper for Halloween while Sam humorously announced he was dressing up as ‘Sam the Snipper’ and would carry around a big pair of scissors- he had us all in tears of laughter!
Twenty Twenty reflect on their year so far and share with Superstar the things they’d like 2012 to bring – be it Emma Watson, coffee cake or even a dream tour with All Time Low. Read on Twenty Twenty fans…
Q: Guys you headlined your own gig at the Shepherds Bush, er – massive!
All: Yeahhh!
Sam: That was so cool. It was quite amazing. We’ve played quite a few shows there already and every time we’ve been there we’ve thought, wow it’d be so cool to headline it one day.
Eve-Yasmine: and you did it!
All: yeah!
Q: What was the feedback like?
Sonny: Really good.
Sam: They seemed to enjoy it! It’s nice for bands that have been with us for a long time to see us do a headline show again, they loved it.
Q: Christmas is coming up, Justin Bieber’s just released his Under The Misletoe album, what can TT fans expect what have you got in store for them?
Sam: We might not have anything necessarily released around Xmas…
Jack: Last year cos’ we had a tour in January you could buy a friend a ticket and a card as a Christmas present. It went down really well. Maybe we’ll do something like that.
Sam: We are most likely to looking to be in the studio again recording some new stuff, we’re busy behind the scenes..a lot of exciting coming up!
Q: In the hols, how do you like to chill out when you do get a day off?
Sam: We’ve always said like being in the band, every day feels like a day off, it’s so much fun but when we aren’t doing the band we just love hanging out with friends.
Sonny: You see people you don’t usually get to see.
Jack: Sometimes I like to be really unsocial and just hideaway and play on my Playstation!
Eve-Yasmine: What games do you like to play?
Jack: Call Of Duty and GTA.
Eve-Yasmine: standard!
Jack: *laughs* you sit there and send and receive a bit of abuse…I’m a little bit of a child!
Sam: When you’re in a band you’re so involved in what you’re doing you kind of forget what’s happening in the world, sometimes you pick up a newspaper and think when did that happen!? I catch up with whatever’s going on.
Q: From your Facebook pics, it seems you all receive A LOT of fan mail and respond to a good amount of it! What has been the most random thing a fan has given or said to you?
Sam: When we went for our signings tour back earlier this year a fan gave us a flower scarecrow thing.
Sonny: Oh yeah…
Sam: You put them in your plant pots and they scare away birds, they actually do work. They’re cool and really quirky.
Sonny: I’ve got mine in my garden.
Jack: We got sent some passport holders through the other week, from fans…please go and travel somewhere else. That was quite random/useful.
Sam: We got made some homemade teddies, they made a cuddly version of my guitar for me.
Jack: We’ve had plenty of gifts that we cannot discuss right now…
Eve-Yasmine: yeah that’s disclosed…erm…moving on! (laughs)
Jack: From some mature fans, some rather exciting presents …
All: Laugh
Q: 2012 is obviously a massive year with the Olympics happening. Would you like to get involved in any aspect of the Olympics?
All: Yeah!
Eve-Yasmine: Which part!?
Jack: Javelin
bLaugh…Jack running about!
Sam: You know when you go and see a football match and they usually have something fun going on, celebrities try and score a penalty…stuff like that! It’d be cool to do something like that, where we get a javelin each and hope we don’t hurt anyone…or get dressed up.
b Ah, we could be a mascot!
Sam: I tell you what I reckon that’s one of the most well paid jobs in the world. You get dressed in a teddy bear costume and just go round and high five people all day, doesn’t really get much better than that!
Eve-Yasmine: It’s all good!
Sam: It’d be cool to dress up as the official mascots.
Q: 2011 has really been a big year for you guys, are there any particular musicians you’d really like to tour with in 2012?
Sam: It’s funny with us because we’ve never really asked to tour with anyone we’ve just seem to be lucky enough to do it. To be honest with you we’ve probably played with most of the artists we enjoy listening to anyway.
Sam: There are some American bands we’d like to tour with.
Jack: It’d be cool to tour with All Time Low.
Sam: They’re a great band, awesome guys. I know we’ve supported them before, but it’d also be cool to tour with a band like McFly.
Jack: Yeah.
Sonny: Even One Direction.
Q: You guys are always super enthusiastic & cracking jokes with each other, who is your fave comedian?
Sonny: Lee Evans. Everything he talks about is so true. Sam and Jack hate Lee Evans!
All: Laugh
Sonny: What? *grins*
Jack: *giggling* I just remember you showing us this DVD…
Sam: We sat and watched Lee Evans with Sonny when we recorded our first album. We rented out a house for a month.
Jack: Every night we’d put on a choice each and we’d get to choose *giggles* and Sonny used to choose Lee Evans and it’s not that I don’t mind…
Sonny: Basically Jack hates Lee Evans.
Sam: We don’t hate him, he’s maybe just a bit too slapstick for us. Sonny would be sitting there in the middle of us two on the sofa absolutely peeing his pants…
All: Laugh
Sam: and me and Jack would just be sat there like *puts on his straight face*
All: Laugh
Sam: The first comedian I ever got into when I was growing up was Eddie Izzard when he was his transvestite period which has no reflection on me whatsoever and I love Ricky Jervais.
Jack: Yeah Ricky Jervais or Peter Kay.
QUICK FIRE:
Q: What’s your favourite cake?
Jack: Chocolate. I do like a good chocolate cake but you know what I had a good coffee cake the other day and that was sickly good.
Eve-Yasmine: Coffee cake? I’ve never had one before, well I don’t like coffee…
Jack: Neither do I but I like coffee cake.
Eve-Yasmine: That is interesting..
Sonny: I’ll go with Victoria sponge.
Q: Favourite Twenty Twenty song?
Sam: I’ve got bit of a soft spot for ‘Burning Up’. It was one of the first songs we wrote for Small Talk and I love playing it live. Everyone seems to get into it, jump around and have a good time.
Sonny: I’ll go with ‘Move It’ – make sure you grab it!
Jack: Big fan of ‘Love’s a freak.’
Sonny: You are a freak.
(Laugh)
Q: Celeb crush?
Jack: Emma Watson. If you’re reading – give me a call! *grins*
Sam: Taylor Swift. I was in bed watching Valentine’s Day the other day
All: Laugh
Eve-Yasmine: I love that film!
Sam: yeah, I watched it…she’s something special. Her music came on at the end of the film, she’s an amazing singer as well but she does write songs about her boyfriends openly so I’m a bit wary that if anything happened and then I went, then suddenly you get an whole album called ‘Sam’s a…’
All: burst out laughing
Q: Name one song that isn’t yours that you know all the words too!
Sam: Anything by Blink-182
Sonny: Anything by Bryan Adams.
Random Twenty Twenty fact:
Jack said “My favourite part of Halloween is making the pumpkin each year, I just love making the face.”
