Girl Shakes Off Nerves To Sing Unforgettable “In The Arms of An Angel” With Her Angelic Voice
Meet Olivia Archbold, who was a terribly shy 14-year old girl at the time of this audition, who couldn’t imagine her world without song. Her family knew that she loved to sing and they urged her to muster up the courage and audition for “Britain’s Got Talent,” and share her gift with the world.
When she arrived, Olivia got really candid about her all-consuming love of singing during her pre-performance interview backstage. “From the moment I wake up, I don’t really think about anything else,” she explained. “I just start singing wondering like in 5 years time if I could be an actual star performing on stage to millions of people.”
Olivia went on to wow the crowd with her stunning yet very challenging song choice, “In The Arms of An Angel,” a ‘90s hit from singer Sarah McLachlan. “BGT” judge Simon Cowell was overheard saying how much he loves that song. (No pressure though!) Then Cowell’s facial expression dropped. “You’re so nervous Olivia and even now you’re shaking,” he commented. “We’ve had young singers come out taking on a song which is way, way too big for them. You sang that so well and you made it your version of the song. I am so impressed with you Olivia.”
