Soulful Teacher Brings The ‘House Down’ In The ‘Perfect Audition’
When “X Factor” judge Simon Cowell saw a blue gorilla with headphones enter the stage, he just about lost it. He had his fill of wacky acts and contestants that weren’t allegedly taking their shot at fame seriously. So, the grumpy judge stormed off backstage to blow off some steam.
Then when he returned to the judges’ panel, he had settled down and was ready to listen to more acts. That’s when an adorable teacher named Danyl Johnson appeared who was like a breath of fresh air and just what Simon needed. Not only was Danyl super talented, good-looking, charismatic, but had the vocal pipes to back it up!
The 27-year-old teacher and aspiring singer, sang “With A Little Help From My Friends,” by Joe Cocker. His rendition had so much soul that it made the judges eyebrows lift in amazement and then rise to their feet. Simon, who has been doing this for almost a decade said, “Okay, Danyl, that was, single-handedly, the best first audition I have ever heard.”
