The “Sound of Silence” On An 18-String Harp Guitar
The Simon and Garfunkel classic folk music tune “Sound of Silence” is one of the most beautiful, eerie songs ever written in music history. But a YouTube star named Jamie Dupuis gave the song a twist by performing it on an 18-string harp guitar, turning the tune upside down!
The song is transported to another level as it really captures the soul of the original tune, penned by Paul Simon from 1963-1964. Originally written on an acoustic guitar, Dupuis’ use of an 18-string harp guitar is genius, as it allows more depth to be heard from Simon’s original arrangement.
Simon once revealed the song was written in a dark bathroom. He stated of the tune, “I used to go off in the bathroom, because it was a slight echo chamber, shut the lights and I’d play, ‘Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again’”
